Spinal Shivers
Why isn't spinal shivers/shivers of dread used more often? It provides unlimited interrupts at the fastest speed. In the few times I've managed to form a team with the following build, I've had some success. The necromancer calls a target for the assassin to camp while the es/mb's spike. Any thoughts are appreciated.
necromancer:
shivers of dread, parasitic bond, rigor mortis, defile flesh, spinal shivers, res sig, cultist's fervor, pious concentration

It's a 2 second casting hex spell.
If you don't have the energy, it can be taken off really quickly.
It only targets one player, so a monk can take it off with a quick hex removal.
You take 10 energy to get it on, and then +X energy to maintain interrupts.

ummm id say the reason why no one uses it is b/c of the energy upkeep. cultist fevor to my knowledge doesnt reduce the energy of maintaining the skills. i mean even to an ele spinal shivers and shivers of dread would be an energy nightmare. so for a necro i say you got maybe 5 secs @ most of that lasting till your energy is completely gone.
that could be why that skill is so detromental to your casters/necros. its just too energy demanding

I think the Ritualist's "Warmonger's Weapon" is far more reliable than Spinal Shivers, despite the fact that it can only interrupt non-attack actions. Shivers was only good for it's time pre-factions++, tbh.

Having tested the build as the necro, I can truthfully say that the only time I had energy problems was after death (waiting for the energy to cast cultist, then I could continue). Also, you would think that shivers would be a priority hex to remove, but with rigor, defile, spammable-parasitic bond and spinal/shivers 15 sec recharge- it can be maintained on a target. Thanks for your thoughts and keep them coming.

You're trading one and a half characters for incomplete shutdown on one guy.

If the idea is to rigor and shiver one of the monks and have your conjure sin sit on him the whole round it won't really work. All they have to do is keep make haste on that monk to minimize hits or lineback the sin if it's really a problem. I don't think it would be a problem though because this is basically the same effect warmonger's has and that fell out of use for a reason.
So yeah, like Lemming said you trade a dom mesmer that can shutdown as needed for the chance at some random interrupts on one guy.

How do you actually kill anything with this?
If you target a defensive character with the shivers and assasin he's going to run away forever with a perma speedboost, not to mention both monks have half their skills at 1/4 cast which can easily be timed inbetween dagger attacks.
In the meantime, how do 2 fire eles and a slow deepwound trigger kill anything?

PD is good. PD is not the best, there are plenty of other wonderful interrupts that aren't elite and don't disable the rest of your bar.
